Family teams did well with Blake getting 2nd in light production and father Gary Smith getting a second in Performance Middle Weight , with Lachlan and Darren Bianchi getting firsts and Lachlan’s elder brother Matthew going from lights to middle performance and scoring a close fifth.

Mackay sailors took out the majority of trophies with other Central Queensland Blokart Club members from Rocky and Yeppoon scoring a good share of the remainder.

This year’s event had 46 competitors with some late no shows making the total slightly down on the last two years totals. The weather played a major part in making this event even better with moderate breezes and no rain for the whole weekend of racing. Cape Hillsborough’s beach proved to be a success again with flat hard sand making for an enjoyable racing surface.

Plans are already underway for the 2012 event with potential dates already chosen and a decision to be announced soon.

Blokart Race results for Saturday 30th July 2011. Farnborough Beach, Bangalee. Winds. 10  - 14 knots ESE.
